During the summer months, practise sessions are held once a week at our training ground in Emsworth, Hampshire. Over the off season winter period, we train on a monthly basis at an indoor facility.
Members are encouraged to take part in all aspects of reenactment, in both combat, if possible, and developing living history skills.
Combat training
Herigeas Hundas train regularly in armed reenactment combat with a wide variety of weapons, and bumps and bruises can be expected in this full contact sport. Our experienced trainers are able to work with both beginners and more experienced and confident fighters.
We encourage anyone to have a go and join our shield wall - no matter what sex or age. However, fighters under the age of 18 will have to abide by strict rules.
For initial practice sessions we will be able to provide basic protective kit and weapons, and new members will be expected to meet our high standards of safety and ability with a weapon before being able to head out onto the battle field, and will be given final approval by our group officers. If you decided to join, we help in making kit or advise on purchasing your own equipment.
Living history
Non-combatant members are encouraged to attend practice sessions where they can work on living history skills and techniques under the expert eye of our group officers, who are on hand to offer help and advice with living history crafts and projects.
We encourage any new members with an interest in living history to come along and discuss their interests with one of our more experienced members.
